Vimeo Teams Up with OMG Everywhere to Provide Free Filmmaking Camps for Kids

OMG Everywhere Now Accepting Applications for Sixth Annual

Today, Vimeo announced it has joined forces with OMG Everywhere, a non-profit providing free arts workshops for kids, to provide funding for its 2016 “OMG Cameras Everywhere” summer camps. Now in its sixth year, the filmmaking camps are returning to NYC and LA. Vimeo’s support allows the programs to remain totally free for all of the student participants (ages 10-13). The camps are designed to give kids an opportunity to experiment creatively, develop artistically and learn new skills in a collaborative environment with established music video directors and filmmakers.
During the week-long program, each child receives hands on experience through group sessions – covering areas such as operating cameras, working with green screens, creating stop motion effects, and many more. The students then apply these skills as they direct music video performances for both local and major label musicians; previous highlights include collaborations with Daft Punk, Brandon Flowers, Camila Cabello of Fifth Harmony, Natalie la Rose, Taking Back Sunday, and the Knocks, as well as creating the official music video for Jack Johnson’s “Radiate.” At the end of each course there is a final screening premiere at a local movie theater, displaying the students’ filmmaking creations.
OMG filmmakers include Warren Fu (Daft Punk, The Strokes), Isaac Ravishankara (The Lumineers, Keith Urban), Emily Kai Bock (Arcade Fire, Grimes), Hiro Murai (FX’s Atlanta, David Guetta, Usher), Kirsten Lepore (Yo Gabba Gabba, Adventuretime), and DANIELS (Swiss Army Man, Lil Jon and DJ Snake).
OMG continues to inspire and empower kids with the tools to express themselves and share their view of the world around them through filmmaking. We’re excited to have a partner like Vimeo onboard that shares a similar passion to empowering creators of all levels to make their art and can’t wait to see what the kids create this year.
says Isaac Ravishankara, OMG Everywhere Co-Founder.
The community Isaac and the OMG team have built for kids over these last few years is just incredible, especially at a time when our public schools are underfunded and lacking much needed art programs. While Vimeo has volunteered in past sessions, we’re excited to be getting more deeply involved this year --- it’s just awesome to see these insanely talented (and busy) filmmakers donating their time to educate and inspire the filmmakers of tomorrow.
said Mike Weissman, General Manager, Vimeo.
Directors/Board Members Isaac Ravishankara, the DANIELS (Daniel Scheinert/Daniel Kwan) and Hiro Murai are available for interviews about OMG Everywhere’s Summer Sessions and commitment to expanding a universally applicable, collaboration-centered model for arts education that is free for kids.

About OMG Everywhere
OMG Everywhere is a nonprofit that was created by music video professionals aware of the dwindling financial support of arts education and committed to sharing the spirit of collaboration with the next generation. We believe that looking at the world through the lens of a camera can help expand a person’s worldview, enabling them to begin seeing the universe as a place subject to manipulation by their own imaginations.
